Build Your Own Combat Robot Test Box
After seeing one too many questionable testing videos we've designed an easy to build test box to help builders quickly create a safe environment for testing. The plans are available right here for free as a community asset.
Testing safely is key to iterating your designs and improving driving skill. These boxes are great for home or classroom use. The box is 4x4x2ft making it convenient to move without requiring disassembly. It fits between the wheel wells on a standard pickup for quick transport.
The box is designed for easy assembly with simple access to the required parts.
- Frame parts from T-NUTZ
- Polycarbonate "Lexan" from your local plastic supply house
- Plywood floor from your local hardware store
We use ours for single bot target practice with Ants/Beetles. We've also used it for small Antweight tournaments. It's single ply 1/4" so keep that in mind if testing any exceptionally dangerous weapons.
